CAFOD Campaign

CAFOD’s campaigning tackles the causes of poverty and hunger, not just the symptoms. It is a tangible way in which we as a parish can express our faith. It enables us to help thousands more communities than we could just through fundraising alone, by advocating for changes in policy and practice to reduce poverty overseas. It includes political campaigning, but it is not party political. We make a difference when we join our voices with others who feel the same.

We recently encouraged parishioners to unite against coronavirus by signing the CAFOD petition to ask the government to work with other world leaders to help the most vulnerable people in our world to cope with this crisis.

CAFOD’S Coronavirus petition has reached over 7,000 signatures – the most they have ever had for online signatures. It is being handed in to the UK government during September.
Thank you for signing, sharing and connecting with the campaign!

With signatures from other organisations in the coalition, nearly a million people have called for wealthier nations to assist the world's poorest countries deal with the pandemic, including the issue of cancelling debts.

From October to December, as we move into Advent, CAFOD will be asking supporters to write solidarity messages to human rights and environmental defenders from around the world.
